A very good turnout at a slightly damp Aboyne Golf Club. While never a downpour and certainly no discernible wind, most players started in rain, finished in rain and experienced at least some wet weather during the course of their round.
By all accounts however, the course was in very good condition with smooth putting surfaces not yet affected by autumn surface coring.
At least one of our number found the greens to his liking with Peterhead’s professional Phil McLean recording a sensational 8 under par 60 (sixty!) despite a shaky start with a bogey 4 at the first. That was one of the best rounds ever recorded by a member of the North East Alliance and one of which Phil can be rightly proud.
One handicapper Craig Bain must be scratching his head after an excellent par round of 68, only to find himself 8 shots adrift!
