A surprisingly low turnout at a beautiful Montrose Links. Perhaps a combination of the ongoing effects of coronavirus and many of our professional members playing elsewhere. For those that did play however, the scoring was very good. With all bunkers out of play at Montrose at this time of year, one of the course’s main defences was eliminated. Although word has it that today’s winner was in none of them so required no relief. Caledonian’s Stewart Finnie carded the best of the day 67 followed closely by another regular prize winner Chris Gilbert on 68. Professionals Kris Nicol and Phil McLean on 69 and 70 respectively took third and fourth spots with Ian Esslemont, Ian Jack and Jim Emslie sharing 5th on 71.
Colin Duffus won Class Handicap with 65 net of his 7 handicap while also with net 65 was Norman Glass to win Class 2 Handicap thanks to a better inward half, just pipping Glen Cochrane on the same score.
