In recent years, the winner of each of the three Order of Merit sections has emerged as the player who has accumulated most points over the season regardless of the number of fixtures played. At the Annual General Meeting held on 1st September 2020, the Committee were requested to consider an alternative methodology which would reward both regular attendance and also quality golfing performance. In brief summary, the winner of each section this season will have accumulated the most number of points in, up to, their best 15 fixtures. It would therefore be possible for a player to only play, say, 12 fixtures but still accumulate the highest points. If a player scores points in more than 15 fixtures, only the 15 highest points recorded will be taken into account.
The Committee consider this to be a fairer way of determining the OOM section winners but will review the process at the end of the 2020/2021 season. The possibility of Covid-19 disruption may also play a major part in deliberations.
In recognition of the revised system, points tables will be shown in alphabetical order rather than in accumulated points order until we reach the latter part of the season.
