The Cruden Bay fixture presented several challenges, the first being whether it should proceed at all or be called off early morning to avoid unnecessary travel for the majority of Members signed up to play. Storm Brendan had been causing havoc across the whole of the UK and with some forecasts predicting 60 miles per hour winds, the event was on a knife edge.
However, fearless administrators, knowing that the Clubhouse would be a safe haven, decided to proceed. 71 players took part and produced commendable results in the conditions. The day was dry and mostly sunny but with fearsome winds battering even the most able of golfers, the scores were understandably a little higher than would be expected in more benign conditions.
Craig Angus, 4 handicap member of Kemnay produced the lowest scratch score on the day with a very commendable three over par 73. All prizewinners are as set out below but it was noted more than once that the Cruden Bay course, much praised by Alliance Members, was the ultimate victor!
