Eleven degrees Celsius. Almost flat calm. Golfers in polo shirts. 22 January. Yes, indeed, the North East Alliance visit to Fraserburgh Golf Club. It was almost unsettling for Alliance members not having to lean into strong, biting northerly winds but the wily course designer was wise to the occasion, presenting it in excellent condition, especially for this time of year, maximising the course length and challenging approach shot accuracy by way of clever pin placements. Congratulations and thanks must go the Greens staff for such an excellent all round presentation on the day.
It can be inferred from such comment that low scoring was not the order of the day. Only one player, Torphins professional Greig Hutcheon, was able able to break par with a one under 69 although bogeys at the last two holes slightly took the shine off another steady round. Joining the Alliance this season part way through the first half, Greig has not taken long to accumulate 4 wins to date with success today following on from Montrose, Newburgh and Inverallochy.
